Country duo Cliff & Susan throw a raucous little shindig with their boisterous, party-hardy new song. “Neon Dreams” sizzles with the bright lights of a dive bar, nestled between streets and bustling with chatter and drinks. “There ain’t nothing better than the feeling that you get when you got ’em in the palm of your hand / Singing every word to a Hank Jr. song here with all my rowdy friends,” sings Cliff.
Not only is it a Friday night lights sort of jam, but the song also operates as an anthem for their high-flying ambitions. “Neon Dreams,” which nears 15,000 streams on Spotify, situates the duo as a must-hear act to follow. “But maybe one day I’ll be the biggest damn star you’ve ever heard of,” Cliff promises. It’s a bold vow, but it’s not unfounded. Their star is about to shoot across the sky.
“[This song] is more than just an upbeat country groove; it’s a message to dreamers and go-getters who know that the stage is where they belong,” the band says in a statement on the song, co-written with Bree Ogden. “True to its roots, the song tells us that whether or not fame and fortune come knocking, the real prize is in the chase, in the authentic joy of doing what you love performing for crowds.”
