Heartbreak still rips through her chest. Jules Brave is still recovering from a former relationship, but she musters up all she possibly can for a new song. “Nothing to Talk About” is about a woman reclaiming her worth and finally severing ties from the past. “We got nothing to talk about,” loops Brave in the chorus.

The beat drops in thick, an almost timeless R&B feel permeating the production. Brave recorded “Nothing to Talk About,” produced with Jacob Seeger and Alina Smith, in her New York City apartment. Its DIY aesthetic part of its charm, not a hindrance. “Stars were aligned / It was our time / Now you’re just wasting it,” she sings.

Brave, whose voice electrifies, took to Instagram to share about the song process. “I cannot even explain how cool it feels that this is finally out in the world. I wrote this song three years ago now, which is mind-blowing,” she said, “and it has always been such a special one to me. This song was such a lesson on editing and refining as a writer, and using fun, different sounds than I ever had in production before (I’m not an amazing producer, so I’m stoked that we got to use a lot of the OG stems from the demo!).”

She quickly added, This song took a village and kinda represents my journey and I think that’s so cool.”

Previously songs like “If You Ever Left Me” and “Waste My Time” have taken off on Spotify – with each hitting nearly 2 million and 380,000 streams, respectively. Brave’s star is clearly on the rise, and we can’t wait to hear what she does next.
