Cassadee Pope Embraces Wild Side on “Almost There” (Review)
GRAMMY-nominated, Platinum-certified singer/songwriter, Cassadee Pope has dropped her latest single “Almost There”.
The artist isn’t afraid to show her wild side on the newest release which she co-wrote with Nick Furlong (5 Seconds of Summer, blink-182) and Christina Galligan (Aespa) with production completed by Furlong.
In the guitar-driven, heavily influenced pop-punk track, “Almost There” showcases a more sensual side that has never really been explored in Pope’s songwriting before. It’s bold and freeing for the musician and emphasizes feeling confident in your own body and the excitement of delving into new experiences with someone you deeply care about.
In the press release, Pope said “I think a lot of us are taught from an early age that indulging our desires is shameful and not ladylike. It was only when I started to shed that shame and embrace my sensual nature that I began feeling like myself. For this song, I wanted to let people see a side of me they haven’t seen before and validate them in their own desires.”
The music video follows the sensual, pop-punk theme of the track in a low-lit atmosphere.
“Who says love is meant to be so innocent?/ I love misbehaving/ Bad things are fun when we’re naked/ Pull my hair to show you care/ I’m almost there”
In a world where it seems wrong to explore yourself and your desires, Pope captures the feeling in this iconic, sexual liberating song that it’s okay to have those thoughts. Don’t be embarrassed about it. Feel free to be completely you.
The singer-songwriter started off in pop-punk with Hey Monday then made the jump to country after winning The Voice and has found her footing in the genre she kicked off her career with. This is the music she desires to make and everyone is absolutely enjoying it.
Pope’s vocals have never sounded better and we cannot wait to hear what’s to come on her forthcoming record.
