Parker Graye Honors “Saddies For The Baddies” with New Single “Summer Rain” (Interview)
While trailblazing a path through the Canadian and U.S. country music market, riser Parker Graye is staying authentic to herself.
Released everywhere today (6/9), Graye tells a new story with the single “Summer Rain.”
“This came about much differently than any song I’ve ever written. I spent nearly 3 days just writing one-liners that brought the story together. At the time, it felt like putting a puzzle together, piecing together a broken-up storyline,” shares Graye. “It felt like I knew the characters or had watched the storyline unfold in a dream. I took those notes to the wonderful Luca Fogale and we brought the whole song to life. Since then the song has been one of my favorites to play by myself and I knew this song could fit perfectly alongside the others in the EP.”
Listen to “Summer Rain” below.
The release of “Summer Rain” follows the major success Graye seen with previous singles “Who’s Lyin’ Here” and “Good At Gettin’ Gone.” With the release of “Good At Gettin’ Gone,” the singer-songwriter reached #39 on the Canadian Country Radio charts alongside being named iHeartRadio Future Star for both March and April.
“As a kid, I dreamed of being on the radio and to not only hear your music on the radio consistently but also break into the Top 40 was unreal,” Graye reminisces.
As Graye has seen incredible success with those releases, she’s hopeful that listeners can imagine the journey throughout the lyrics of “Summer Rain.”
“Summer Rain is one of those songs that just takes you on a bit of a journey. You can close your eyes, shut out the world for a moment, and just let the story take you. If the song resonates on a personal level with people, nothing makes me happier,” shares Graye.
Graye has been creating for future releases full-time in Music City USA (Nashville, TN), while still honoring the roots that lead her to this point.
“It’s been so great to finally be here full time and spending my days collaborating with so many wildly talented artists, producers, and writers.” shares Graye.
As she continues her “Saddies For The Baddies” era, the Candian-rooted artist will be returning to make her festival debut with Boots and Hearts in Burl’s Creek, Ontario.
The future is bright for this Artist To Watch as she contunites to write and record music that’s the roots of Parker Graye.
“We’ve got a few more songs ready to go that obviously still live in my #saddiesforthebaddies era and I’m so excited to start sharing some of the new music I’ve been writing when the time is right! I can’t guarantee it won’t be sad,” shares Graye.
