Morgan Wallen Releases Three Addicting Songs Ahead of New Album (Review)
In Morgan Wallen’s world, fans are kept on their toes at all times. In the wake of announcing his third album, One Thing At A Time, which will be released on March 3rd, the singer has released three brand-new songs. “I Wrote The Book,” “Everything I Love,” and “Last Night” give fans a sneak peek at what’s to come.
As a metaphor for passionate relationships, “Last Night” represents what it’s like to be in one. Alcohol can spark a variety of intense reactions between people when it comes to the back-and-forth between two people. Wallen has explored this theme in previous songs, but this track seems fresh and even more contemporary: “Last night we let the liquor talk / I can’t remember everything we said but we said it all / You told me that you wish I was somebody you never met.”
He has previously teased “I Wrote The Book” on social media. While others may try, Wallen has been there and done it. On this track, Wallen confesses and owns up to his wild side. He always looks back on the simple life he grew up with. Throughout the song, Wallen references the Bible, since he acknowledges that the Bible was not written by him. “But there’s one that lays by the lamp on the nightstand / One that says don’t cuss and don’t fight.” The new track is surprisingly reflective.
The song is reminiscent of the down-home country tracks that he has released recently. “Everything I Love” is about how a breakup can ruin memories once shared. He sings heartbreakingly, “Can’t you see what you’re doing, you ruined damn near everything I love.” The soaring and catchy melody will leave anyone hooked.
