There’s nothing like Christmas cheer to get fans excited about Dolly Parton’s upcoming NBC special, “Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas.”
There is something of a meta-movie-musical feel to the special. A holiday special for the network is put on by guest stars like Jimmy Fallon, Willie Nelson, Billy Ray Cyrus, Jimmie Allen, Miley Cyrus, and more at Dolly Parton’s amusement park, Dollywood.
“It’s the story of the behind the scenes of the making of a network special,” Parton tells in the teaser. “It’s like a show within a show, a movie within a movie. It’s like really showing what can go wrong and will go wrong. There’s so much drama, so much craziness.”
She said Dollywood’s singers, bands, and dancers are the best, which is why she suggested filming there. There are cameos from all of them in the sneak peek footage. Also featured in the special will be Parton and her friends’ new duet “Almost Too Early for Christmas,” a duet she will perform with Fallon.
Mountain Magic Christmas airs on NBC and begins streaming on Peacock on December 1 at 8 p.m. EST.
