During the holiday season, Kelly Clarkson will bring holiday cheer with Kelly Clarkson Presents: When Christmas Comes Around, which airs Wednesday, December 1 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
Clarkson’s special celebrates the release of her new holiday album, and she will perform new originals and classics with My Band Y’All and a streamlined modern orchestra. She will also perform remarkable duets.
As well as Brett Eldredge and Ariana Grande, Jay Leno, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Odom Jr., Amy Poehler, and Santa Claus himself, the show will feature a number of guests. Several everyday heroes will be featured in the show with life-changing surprises.
It will take place at Universal Studios Hollywood, and the stage will include timeless Christmas themes that change the viewers’ perspective – from a forest full of Northern Lights to a fantasy world under a tree.
“People celebrate the holidays in different ways and that is the inspiration behind the original songs and the curated classics that are featured in this special,” said Clarkson. “No matter what your heart is feeling this holiday season, I hope that this hour brings you joy and happiness exactly where you are.”
Clarkson’s ninth studio album When Christmas Comes Around is the source of the show’s original music. In addition to new songs, the American Idol winner reunites with longtime collaborators Jason Halbert and Jesse Shatkin. Included in this collection are the duet “Santa, Can’t You Hear Me” with Ariana Grande, the ballad “Merry Christmas (to the One I Used to Know),” and the upbeat “Glow” featuring Chris Stapleton.
