Russell Dickerson & Jake Scott Combine Talent for Collaboration “She Likes It”(Review)
Russell Dickerson and Jake Scott‘s “She Likes It” collaboration is one of the best things that can go together. Originally from Nashville, Dickerson’s style blends seamlessly with Jake Scott’s new pop and R&B style.
With his platinum hit “Yours,” Dickerson broke into the country music scene in 2017 and has seen nothing but success since. With a twangy country-pop sound and a dash of R&B, he’s best known for taking risks and dabbling in various genres. Dickerson premiered the chorus of Scott’s track on TikTok and asked another writer to write a verse for it, which Scott wrote. Scott has also given it a shot and they have come up with an amazing collaboration that we can only hope will not be their last.
“She likes it when I pour tequila / Cause she knows that we about to have ourselves a little night / When I play John Denver through that little Bose speaker / And I start dimmin’ those lights / She knows by the way I’m kissin’ on her / That we gonna take our time.”
It comes as no surprise that Scott wrote a second verse on his own and sings it with the ease that comes with his recent success in pop, country, folk, and singer-songwriter genres. Jake Scott has no limit to his talents with hits like “Like No One Does” and “Sinking In,” a collaboration with Katelyn Tarver. Dickerson jumps right into the country music scene after Jake Scott just finished touring with LANY. Dickerson’s success from collaborating with Scott on hits for Carrie Underwood, Jason Mraz, and more can be explained by Scott’s success.
“When I leave her a note / Make us reservations / Just because that girl’s worth celebrating / When I already know what she’s thinking / She don’t have to say it.”
Combined, Dickerson and Scott’s voices create hypnotic melodies over an addictive beat that can’t help but make us want more. Despite our expectations, “She Likes It” exceeds them and makes our list of the best country releases for June.
